Metzer’s dripper insertion system for cylindrical drippers is engineered for high-speed, precision embedding during dripline extrusion. Designed for continuous, efficient production, the system ensures consistent dripper orientation, spacing, and accurate welding at line speeds up to twice the extrusion rate.
Drippers are sorted and oriented using a high-capacity centrifugal bowl feeder, then transferred to a long belt conveyor that acts as a buffer for the inserting module—eliminating the need for air conveyance and reducing energy and air consumption. A large elevating hopper feeds the bowl continuously for several hours of autonomous operation.
Insertion is handled by two servo-driven caterpillars that control the dripper spacing with exceptional accuracy. The system’s air-cooled stinger guide, featuring micrometric linear and angular adjustments, ensures precise and repeatable alignment of each dripper through the die head until it is welded into the pipe.
The entire unit is mounted on guide rails for smooth retraction during setup or in case of fault. Pneumatic actuation withdraws the system safely from the die head when needed. An integrated LCD touchscreen interface allows the operator to configure setup parameters, monitor system performance, and respond to alerts—ensuring ease of use and optimal production control.
