Turnkey Irrigation Projects Terrain-adapted Irrigation in an Apple orchard

A 52-hectare apple orchard in Ukraine was equipped with a complete drip irrigation system, from design to commissioning, using pressure-compensated Vardit driplines. The project ensures precise water delivery to every tree, optimizing root-zone moisture while minimizing water, fertilizer, and labor costs.

Location: Ukraine
Project Size: 52 ha
Crop: Apples
Irrigation Type: Drip Irrigation

Challenge

Establishing uniform irrigation across a newly planted 52-hectare apple orchard required addressing elevation changes, ensuring consistent moisture in the root zone, and delivering a solution that would reduce long-term input costs while protecting the sensitive early growth stages of the trees.

Resolution

Metzer had delivered a turnkey irrigation system that included detail design, supply and installation of main and sub-main distribution lines, filtration and control systems. The project used multi-year pressure-compensated Vardit driplines to ensure uniform water distribution regardless of terrain elevation changes. Commissioning and system startup were completed on-site, setting the foundation for healthy orchard development and efficient resource use.
