Turnkey Subsurface irrigation Air Management and control in Reel Hose Irrigation Systems
A 72.6-hectare open-field irrigation system was implemented using mobile reel-hose systems for maize cultivation, supported by a river-fed pumping station and a robust infrastructure network.
How We Made It Happen
Challenge
The project required managing significant volumes of air in the network due to topography and field layout. The system had to operate without filtration and maintain stable pressure throughout long hose runs. Precise hydraulic design was essential to ensure safe operation and reliable irrigation.
Resolution
A complete turnkey solution was delivered, including the design, supply, and installation of a river-sourced pumping station, underground infrastructure, and electrical systems. Cast iron hydraulic valves, steel and PE piping, and air release mechanisms were integrated to optimize performance. Mobile reel-hose units were deployed for flexible, efficient strip irrigation across the cornfields.
