Turnkey Irrigation Projects Boosting Tomato Production in the Ukraine

A 435-hectare open-field tomato project in Ukraine, completed in 2023, implemented advanced drip irrigation and precision fertigation systems to overcome field division, canal-based water sourcing, and topographic challenges—resulting in a highly efficient, large-scale operation that sets a new standard for tomato production in the region.

Location: Ukraine
Project Size: 435 ha
Crop: Tomatoes
Irrigation Type: Drip Irrigation

Challenge

Implementing one of the largest tomato irrigation projects in Ukraine—spanning 435 hectares in the Odesa region—presented significant challenges. The fields were divided into seven separate blocks, each requiring independent water supply from canal-fed sources. The terrain demanded pressure control across varying elevations, and precise fertigation was critical for maximizing crop performance, particularly during sensitive growth periods.

Resolution

A complete drip irrigation system was delivered, featuring diesel-powered pumping stations for each field, drawing water from the Dniester canal network. Advanced fertilizer mixing units were installed to ensure accurate, efficient nutrient application and system flushing. Pressure-regulating valves were integrated to stabilize flow and enable future automation. All dripline, mains, and fittings were supplied by our company—positioning this project as one of the most advanced and large-scale tomato irrigation systems in the region.
