Rapid installation despite wartime challenges
A 100-hectare subsurface drip irrigation system was successfully implemented in Ukraine’s Cherkasy region under challenging wartime conditions. Despite logistical and weather-related obstacles, the fully automated system was designed, installed, and commissioned in just 60 days—laying the foundation for a reliable, labor-efficient, and high-yield agricultural operation.
How We Made It Happen
Challenge
The project required rapid deployment of a complex irrigation system across 100 hectares, during a time of regional instability and weather-related delays. Achieving deep subsurface installation, automation, and full system integration—within a compressed timeline—demanded precise coordination and experienced engineering.
Resolution
Metzer-Group completed the full scope of work in just two months, including trenching and backfilling, laying dripline at 32 cm depth, soldering mainlines, and installing a diesel pumping station, filtration system, and fertilizer mixing unit. The irrigation system was fully automated and commissioned on-site, providing the client with efficient control, minimal labor input, and the expectation of strong harvest results in the first growing season.
