Turnkey Drip irrigation Project

Harnessing solar energy to efficient Irrigation

This 120-hectare orchards and open-field project in N’dego, Rwanda, features a solar-powered irrigation system integrating intercropping practices, high-value crops, and export-oriented agriculture—laying the foundation for early cash flow and long-term sustainability.

Location: Rwanda
Project Size: 120 ha
Crop: Avocado
Irrigation Type: Drip Irrigation

How We Made It Happen

Challenge

The project faced several challenges, including the need to find a skilled installation team, managing complex civil engineering works such as reservoirs, well drilling, and water channels, and operating in a rural area with limited infrastructure. The project also required careful planning to balance perennial crops like avocado, mango, and macadamia with short-term intercropping for early revenue.

Resolution

A tailored irrigation system was designed, incorporating Vered driplines, sprinklers, and a solar-powered pumping system. Automation was kept manual for cost-effectiveness, while a fertigation-kit ensured precise fertigation. An automatic disc filtration system, proper civil works, staff training, and agronomical guidance supported the project’s success—positioning it for local food production and high-value crop exports
